INDIVIDUAL LESSONS

Sandi offers individual lessons in voice, piano, and songwriting, as well as beginning guitar and ukulele. Within her voice practice, Sandi specializes in helping transgender singers master their singing voice to avoid injury and ensure that their singing voice matches their true identity. Sandi has been working with transgender singers for over 7 years. One of her heroes is a true pioneer in this field, Dr. Anita Kozan, about whom you can read more here

GETTING STARTED: TRIAL LESSONS

For new students, Sandi recommends scheduling 1 or 2 trial lessons to see if you feel it’s a good fit and then going from there to set up a regular schedule. Sandi is very clear about “no hard feelings” if she is not the teacher for you.  She wants what is best for you!- and trial lessons are truly that- a trial so that you are free to make a decision.

LESSON LOGISTICS

Individual lessons are $60 each for one hour for ages 13 and up* when taught over Zoom or at Sandi’s studio in Plymouth MA. If you want Sandi to travel to you, she does offer in-home lessons within a 12 mile radius for an additional fee of $36 round-trip. Click here to schedule your first trial lesson.

GROUP CLASSES AND LESSONS (online)

Sandi offers group classes in ear training, sight-singing, and songwriting for ages 7-107!  A big hit during the height of the pandemic were her online songwriting courses for ages 7-9 and 10-12 (see parent testimonials).

CLASS SIZE - Sandi likes to keep online class sizes relatively small so that each student gets more support. Classes are generally sized as follows:

  • Ages 7-9:  2-4 students per class

  • Ages 10-12: 2-4 students per class

  • Ages 13-15: 4-6 students per class

  • Ages 16-18: 8-10 students per class

  • Ages 19 and up: 15-30 students per class

STRUCTURE

Group classes include a weekly live lecture on Zoom for 60-90 minutes, weekly homework, and a closed Facebook page for all participants to share music and/or lyrics as well as ask questions and solicit peer feedback. All class “graduates” are admitted to a Facebook “community alumni page” where students can continue to share music and ideas!

WHAT CLIENTS ARE SAYING:

I have had the pleasure of creating 250 different commission songs over my 30-year career and without question, the ones that have the “Sandi touch” are the ones that have flown the farthest, touched people the most deeply, and moved my own heart the most.

ANNA HUCKABEE TULL on working with Sandi doing creative projects:

Sandi transforms musical projects in the most astonishing ways. I have worked with Sandi on an incredibly wide range of commissioned song projects over the past 20 years. I have brought her dozens of simply fashioned basic songs and watched her transform them, through arrangement, production, performance, and a sixth sense she has for turning something straightforward into something ethereal, expansive, powerful, and deeply moving. In addition, Sandi‘s people skills are off the charts. She builds strong and deep relationships that last and nurture  Not only has she taken incredibly good care of me and helped me uplift and amplify my own image in the music world, but she knows so quickly how to “read the room” and meet clients exactly where they are. I have watched client after client relax and come alive when they see a simple song I created for them come to life under Sandi‘s tutelage. She is professional, caring, intuitive, powerful, tender, and able to work with everything from simple one line songs to international choirs.  I have had the pleasure of creating 250 different commission songs over my 30 year career and without question the ones that have the “Sandi touch” are the ones that have flown the farthest, touched people the most deeply, and moved my own heart the most.

Anyone considering hiring Sandi to work with them on musical projects will find her work top-quality and incomparable in terms of the way it touches one’s soul.

Becky - parent of two songwriting students, Foxboro MA (online songwriting classes):

Sandi has been so wonderful for our family!

My 10-year-old said that songwriting class was the highlight of her week. She loved the feedback she would get each week, and the motivation to write more than she ever has before. She learned about song structure so that her songs were more than just snippets of melodies as they had been before. She bravely sang them back to her classmate and Sandi, and her confidence grew each week. It was wonderful to hear the students complimenting each other and Sandi gave them so much encouragement to work together and even collaborate on songwriting. She [My 10-year old] did things I never knew she was capable of, and it was inspiring to see the transformation in a few short weeks.

My 7-yr-old also blossomed under Sandi's teaching and was very proud of the complete songs that she created that otherwise would have been beautiful parts of songs that would have been forgotten and never finished. My daughter was able to produce complete songs and learned about structure, so that was fantastic. And the ear training gave her confidence in her musical abilities that she might not have had before. Sandi worked with her on developing her piano skills to accompany her singing and the ear training she provided was wonderful. I was amazed at what she was able to accomplish with both girls over just a few weeks, and I'm sure the confidence and lessons learned will be long-lasting.

Parent of 12-Year Old songwriting student (online songwriting classes):

“I just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful recital! You did an amazing job with the children. Juliana had a great time, despite some of the technical problems that had her holding a phone during her performance. Thank you so much!”

Parent of 12-Year Old songwriting student (online songwriting classes):

“This was our daughter’s first songwriting environment. She plays piano and violin and is forever singing around the house. We wanted to harness her musical interests and looked for something that would educate and inspire her as she applied her natural skills. Sandi kept the class small and intimate- giving amazing time for each student to grow and showcase. Sandi guided their energy with songwriting terms and examples. Each child was given space to be themselves and see where they could go with a song. It was a weekly highlight to hear them learn and sing and write. This class was worth every penny and our child grew musically by leaps.”

Parent of Piano student (online and in-person piano classes):

“My daughter has been taking piano with Sandi for almost 2 years. Sandi has a great sense of who my daughter is and knows when to push her, when to move on and when to call her out (in a respectful way). Sandi keeps her focused and engaged. My daughters’ piano skills have grown tremendously. My husband is a piano player himself, but we found it hard for our child to see him as a music teacher. He is happy with her progress through Sandi.

When COVID hit Sandi didn’t miss a beat and we went into virtual lessons. These lessons are one of the highlights of the week. Sandi has been flexible and generous with her schedule.

Sandi really knows how to talk with a child ...not down to them and that is very meaningful to my daughter. She treats her with maturity and teaches her a love for music as she shares the meaning of the piece and the notes. Sandi brings a well-rounded purpose to her teaching and my husband and I highly recommend her. Sandi plays several instruments and sings. We plan to take vocals from her soon and maybe even songwriting. She is a warm and happy person which is an amazing role model for my daughter.”
